๐ŸŽApple Unveils AI-Powered Health Coach and Cutting-Edge Wellness Features

Apple is developing an AI-powered health coaching service, codenamed Quartz, designed to motivate users to exercise, improve eating habits, and enhance sleep quality. The service aims to use AI and data from an Apple Watch to create personalized coaching programs. This initiative is part of a larger health push, which includes an expansion of the health app to the iPad and features to help users with poor vision.

In the first iteration of the emotion tracker, users can log their mood, respond to questions about their day, and track their emotional progress over time. Apple envisions a future where the iPhone employs algorithms to assess a user's mood through their speech patterns, typed words, and other device data.

Key features:

  • AI-powered health coaching service

  • Personalized coaching programs

  • Expansion of the health app to the iPad

  • Mood and emotion tracking

  • Blood pressure monitoring (in development)

  • Non-invasive glucose monitoring (in development)

๐Ÿค– Robotic dogs just got a little more fascinating - and perhaps unnerving

A group of developers has equipped a Boston Dynamics robot dog with OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's Text-to-Speech voice modulation, enabling it to communicate verbally and respond to questions. Machine learning engineer Santiago Valdarrama shared a video on Twitter demonstrating how he and a colleague programmed a Spot robot dog to use OpenAI's popular tool to answer system queries.

Valdarrama explained in his Twitter thread that these robots carry out automated missions daily, which involve complex, miles-long configuration files. By integrating ChatGPT, they can now present the files and mission results to the AI and ask questions in context. Combined with a voice-enabled interface, this creates a user-friendly method for accessing data. The video even shows Spot incorporating amusing gestures, like shaking its head or bowing, into its responses.

The talking robot dog has sparked mixed reactions, with some expressing awe and others feeling slightly unsettled. Regardless, incorporating chatbots into robots has always been part of the plan. Earlier this year, Microsoft, which has a multi-billion-dollar deal with OpenAI, released a paper outlining the design principles for integrating ChatGPT into robotics. The company believes that this is just the beginning of a shift in robotics development and hopes to inspire more researchers to explore the field.

So, giving Spot its own voice was always on the horizon.๐Ÿถ
